Pitcher Family

My session with the Pitcher family, is possibly one of the funniest sessions that I have had!  I laughed quite literally the entire way through it and realllllly wish that I had a camera behind me to capture the fun that was happening in order to make each other laugh!!

Paradise Point Florist

gold coast photography, gold coast photographer, gold coast wedding photographer, gold coast wedding photography, gold coast flowers, gold coast businessOne of the things that I am planning on doing with my new approach to my blog is making connections with local businesses that could be useful for my
clients.  The first business that I would like to introduce you to is Paradise Point Florist.

Paradise Point Florist is a gorgeous little florist nestled in the shopping village of Grice Avenue in Paradise Point, Gold Coast.  The minute you walk into the store you are greeted by the lovely ladies that work there… and you find yourself surrounded by not only the most divine fresh flowers you have ever seen, but also high quality, totally believable silk flowers, beautiful scented candles, patchwork quilts, homewares, gifts… the list goes on!  You can even watch their talented designers as they create to die for bouquets of flowers!

I recently spent a day with Jeanie and Tammie from Paradise Point Florist and seriously…. I could happily take photos of pretty flowers alllll day long!  I even got to go along for a flower delivery to a bride about to get married!

Jeanie and Tammie told me that their suppliers work directly with local growers to ensure that their flowers enjoy safe passage from farm to studio, arriving fresh and ready to wow you!  All of the ladies at the florist create unique designs with their beautiful flowers, ensuring that there will be an emotional connection with the flowers that they deliver.  Paradise Point Florist also offers floral design workshops from time to time where you can explore your own creativity.

Paradise Point Florist offers VIP same day delivery to Paradise Point, Hope Island, Runaway Bay, Coomera, Upper Coomera, Oxenford, Helensvale, Labrador and Arundel.  They are also able to organise delivery throughout the Gold Coast, Australia and even Internationally.

Paradise Point Florist is the perfect place if you are looking for wedding flowers, but you could also have the ladies put together a flower halo for you for you maternity or family photoshoot.  The addition of beautiful flowers into your photos really takes your images to a new level!

Here are just a few of the photos that I took during my morning at Paradise Point Florist… I may even need to share some more soon!

What Should We Wear?!

It is the most common question I am asked!  It is the thing that I spend the most time considering when I plan my OWN family photos!  So, I have put together some awesome links for you which are a great resource for planning your clothing for your family photos.

Putting together a great colour palette is the first thing that I recommend… Work out what you like, what will give you the look that you are dreaming of.  Try to come up with a colour palette that is a little bit different to everyone else’s photos – check out other photoshoots for inspiration!

Once you have decided on a colour palette, find something in one of your wardrobes that will work for you – and then build on that! Or… maybe… just maybe, it is a chance for a little shopping 😉  Another piece of advice – still look like you!    You still want your family to be the family that you recognise in your photos!

Don’t be afraid of colour but try to use complimentary colours.  Patterns are great – but try to avoid clashing or overly busy patterns.

Once you have booked your session with me, you will receive a preparation package which will help you more with your preparations… however this post should get you started!

Click on each of the following photos to be taken to their website of origin – these are not my photos, simply a collection of awesome resources for you.  The source of each resource is listed below the image:

It’s a New Day!

Hi There!

I am long over due an overhaul on my blog!!  To be honest, I haven’t touched it in such a long time that there is no way I could ever catch up!  So, I have decided to start fresh and do things differently!  The purpose of this new blog of mine is going to be different… I am not going to just tell you about sessions that I have had – although there will no doubt be plenty of that – but one of my aims is for this to be a resource for clients to prepare for their session.

One of the most common questions I get when booking a session?  “What should we wear?!”  Sooooo….. I have decided that one of my very first posts is going to help you out with that one… just not right now!!  (first I need to get over the shock of actually getting this far!)

I admit it, I am not the most entertaining of writers… but please stick with me and I will do my best to improve 😉  If there are topics that you would like covered in helping you prepare for your session, I would love to hear from you – or something that you wish you had known…

Thank you for taking the time to check out my first post.  If you would like to book a session, please email me at katrina-barr@live.com.au  You might also like to check out my website http://www.goldcoast-photography.com.au  to check out more of my work!!

Signing off with some pretty pictures for you!
