Paradise Point Florist

gold coast photography, gold coast photographer, gold coast wedding photographer, gold coast wedding photography, gold coast flowers, gold coast businessOne of the things that I am planning on doing with my new approach to my blog is making connections with local businesses that could be useful for my
clients.  The first business that I would like to introduce you to is Paradise Point Florist.

Paradise Point Florist is a gorgeous little florist nestled in the shopping village of Grice Avenue in Paradise Point, Gold Coast.  The minute you walk into the store you are greeted by the lovely ladies that work there… and you find yourself surrounded by not only the most divine fresh flowers you have ever seen, but also high quality, totally believable silk flowers, beautiful scented candles, patchwork quilts, homewares, gifts… the list goes on!  You can even watch their talented designers as they create to die for bouquets of flowers!

I recently spent a day with Jeanie and Tammie from Paradise Point Florist and seriously…. I could happily take photos of pretty flowers alllll day long!  I even got to go along for a flower delivery to a bride about to get married!

gold coast photography, gold coast photographer, gold coast wedding photographer, gold coast wedding photography, gold coast flowers, gold coast businessParadise Point Florist are committed to supporting local producers, with the finest premium quality flowers which arrive daily.  I was really excited to hear that Paradise Point Florist is a chemical free florist, treating their flowers as naturally as possible.  This means that when you have flowers from Paradise Point Florist in your home, your family is not coming into contact with harsh chemicals which could be damaging to their health!

Jeanie and Tammie told me that their suppliers work directly with local growers to ensure that their flowers enjoy safe passage from farm to studio, arriving fresh and ready to wow you!  All of the ladies at the florist create unique designs with their beautiful flowers, ensuring that there will be an emotional connection with the flowers that they deliver.  Paradise Point Florist also offers floral design workshops from time to time where you can explore your own creativity.

Paradise Point Florist offers VIP same day delivery to Paradise Point, Hope Island, Runaway Bay, Coomera, Upper Coomera, Oxenford, Helensvale, Labrador and Arundel.  They are also able to organise delivery throughout the Gold Coast, Australia and even Internationally.

Paradise Point Florist is the perfect place if you are looking for wedding flowers, but you could also have the ladies put together a flower halo for you for you maternity or family photoshoot.  The addition of beautiful flowers into your photos really takes your images to a new level!

Here are just a few of the photos that I took during my morning at Paradise Point Florist… I may even need to share some more soon!

Gold Coast Wedding Photographer: Kate & Michael’s Wedding {Part 2}

Now for part 2 of Kate and Michael’s beautiful wedding!  As mentioned in my previous post about their wedding (you can go back and check it out by clicking here), Kate and Michael chose to go to Miami after their ceremony for portraits.

We started with some family photos with their precious children before continuing on with some bridal party fun!  Kate, Michael and their super awesome wedding party were so easy to photograph during their session, sharing laughs and fun, as well as some really beautiful quiet moments❤

Michael and Kate kicked off their wedding with the “Shoe Game”… if you haven’t seen it before, check it out here!  Must admit, it is tricky to take photos while giggling behind my camera😉   After a little bit of reception coverage we left the new husband and wife to party the night away with their friends and family!

Gold Coast Photography – Meet Katrina!

Hi There!

Thank you for considering Katrina Barr Photography for your photoshoot!  I thought that this might be a good post so that you might be able to get to know me a little bit… it will also help when we meet for your shoot.. you will be able to find me and I won’t be walking up to every family that I see😉

I work as a full time photographer with a home studio space.  The majority of my work is on location, with newborns being photographed in the studio.  If you require a studio shoot, this can absolutely be arranged!  I have a background in education and was a teacher for over 10 years.  I believe that this is really helpful for me as a children’s photographer!  I have been mentored by some amazing photographers and have participated in newborn photography workshops which has been crucial in the development of my skills.

I am a mother, wife, daughter and friend.  I have 3 beautiful children and an awesome husband!  I have some of the most amazing friends, who along with my family, have been the best cheer squad for me as I have taken this journey of photography… celebrating my successes and encouraging me constantly along the way!  My family and friends mean the world to me!  I love family time and love nothing more than curling up with my loves to watch a movie.  I love date nights with my husband, catching up with friends and watching trashy tv.

Photography was something that I have always been interested in and secretly had a dream of doing.  It wasn’t however until my little girl was a toddler that I had my first opportunity for that dream to become a reality!

My style is soft and feminine.  I adore gorgeous light and pretty locations!  I love letting you play and have fun together while I capture those little moments that make you, you… I will also get some of those gorgeous posed photos, but so many of the shots that I love, you don’t even know I am taking!

I encourage you to have fun with your loved ones when having your photos taken… relax and enjoy each other.. give kisses, hugs, tickles and giggles!  I also encourage you to not worry about the “perfect time” for photos… don’t put it off!  Photos taken today will be forever treasured by our family and friends!

I love photographing just about anything that you throw at me!  Weddings are a favourite of mine, but I also love photographing families, children and newborns!  I have also recently been doing a lot of product photography which I have been having a lot of fun with!

I love, love, love seeing my photos printed and proudly displayed on your wall!  I get the biggest kick out of seeing clients excited to see their photos!  I provide high resolution digital images on a custom usb, however also have a variety of prints and products available for you to choose from.

I am a Gold Coast based photographer, but I am absolutely happy to travel to you for your session… just make contact and we can discuss details!

It isn’t often that I venture to the “other side” of the camera… and almost never agree to a photo by myself… however my clever husband took this of me on the weekend!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions, I look forward to photographing you and your loved ones and helping you to create memories that can be forever treasured!

Big Love!

Gold Coast Newborn Photographer ~ Choosing the photographer for you!

Congratulations!  You are having a baby!

Now for picking your newborn photographer!  I have been photographing newborns for around 6 years.  I have also participated in training workshops to help me hone my skills.  Newborn sessions by KBP are almost always photographed with the help of an assistant to ensure the total safety of your baby.  I work out of a home based studio space where I like you to feel relaxed and at ease🙂

It is important to choose a newborn photographer who is experienced and knows how to safely photograph your precious newborn.  While budget is absolutely important when making your decision, it is also important that you choose a photographer that you feel takes safety seriously!

Editing is also important so be sure to look through prospective photographer’s past work – whether it is mine or another photographer – make sure that you like their work and are happy with the finished product!

Newborns are photographed at KBP, where possible, under 10 days of age.  If you would like to book a newborn photoshoot with Katrina Barr Photography, please make contact as soon as possible.  Your due date will be placed in my calendar so that I can ensure that ample space is available once your little one makes his/her arrival.  Once your baby arrives, I ask that you make contact as soon as you are up to it, so that we can lock in a date for your session!

I have many props and blankets in my studio ready for your session.  If you have something really special that you would like to bring along for your session, feel free to bring it along and I will do my best to include it!

Sharing with you some photos from newborn sessions… I can not wait to photograph your baby!

Gold Coast Wedding Photographer: Kate and Michael’s Wedding {Part 1}

I absolutely love photographing weddings!  I was really excited to photograph the wedding of Kate and Michael.  They were very down to earth, easy to chat to and the love between them was easy to see!

Kate and Michael were married at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Surfers Paradise.  It had been wet in the week leading up to their wedding, so my second shooter Louise (from Little Presh Photography) and I arrived armed with umbrellas.  Luckily, we were blessed with fine weather and a beautiful day!

Kate and Michael chose a yellow themed wedding which was absolutely beautiful!  With yellow gerberas, yellow bridesmaid dresses and yellow bows on flower girl dresses, the yellow theme was perfection!  After the ceremony, we went to Miami beach for portraits and then back to the hotel for the reception.

Kate and Michael’s wedding party were so much fun and kept their bride and groom smiling and laughing for the whole day.  Kate and Michael were married surrounded by family and friends as well as their precious baby boy and Michael’s beautiful girls.  A perfect day filled with love!

One of the things that I find most tricky about blogging a wedding is trying to cut down the photos that I include!  There are so many photos that I love from Kate and Michael’s wedding, it is hard to share just a few!  I was lucky enough to be able to capture a big part of Kate and Michael’s wedding day, so will be sharing their photos over a 2 part post🙂

Keep an eye out for Part 2 of Kate and Michael’s beautiful wedding day!

Until next time!

What Should We Wear?!

It is the most common question I am asked!  It is the thing that I spend the most time considering when I plan my OWN family photos!  So, I have put together some awesome links for you which are a great resource for planning your clothing for your family photos.

gold coast family photography, gold coast family photographer

Putting together a great colour palette is the first thing that I recommend… Work out what you like, what will give you the look that you are dreaming of.  Try to come up with a colour palette that is a little bit different to everyone else’s photos – check out other photoshoots for inspiration!

Once you have decided on a colour palette, find something in one of your wardrobes that will work for you – and then build on that! Or… maybe… just maybe, it is a chance for a little shopping😉  Another piece of advice – still look like you!    You still want your family to be the family that you recognise in your photos!

Don’t be afraid of colour but try to use complimentary colours.  Patterns are great – but try to avoid clashing or overly busy patterns.

Once you have booked your session with me, you will receive a preparation package which will help you more with your preparations… however this post should get you started!

Click on each of the following photos to be taken to their website of origin – these are not my photos, simply a collection of awesome resources for you.  The source of each resource is listed below the image:

It’s a New Day!

Hi There!

I am long over due an overhaul on my blog!!  To be honest, I haven’t touched it in such a long time that there is no way I could ever catch up!  So, I have decided to start fresh and do things differently!  The purpose of this new blog of mine is going to be different… I am not going to just tell you about sessions that I have had – although there will no doubt be plenty of that – but one of my aims is for this to be a resource for clients to prepare for their session.

One of the most common questions I get when booking a session?  “What should we wear?!”  Sooooo….. I have decided that one of my very first posts is going to help you out with that one… just not right now!!  (first I need to get over the shock of actually getting this far!)

I admit it, I am not the most entertaining of writers… but please stick with me and I will do my best to improve😉  If there are topics that you would like covered in helping you prepare for your session, I would love to hear from you – or something that you wish you had known…

Thank you for taking the time to check out my first post.  If you would like to book a session, please email me at katrina-barr@live.com.au  You might also like to check out my website http://www.goldcoast-photography.com.au  to check out more of my work!!

Signing off with some pretty pictures for you!
